| Read me first hehe ;) |
`-----------------------'
I wished first to say that running my Quest door means first READING the
doc ;) The door is awesomely quite powerful and you cannot guess how to
make it work at 100% by yourself ;)
The new concept of interactivity introduced with my door is just a first
step. I am far from artificial intelligence :) Though the door is
up to now quite revolutionary, there will be enhancements in a near
future by other skilled coders, I'm sure, and I hope it. I just give a good
starting point. I will myself keep upgrading this tool, but I hope other
coders will be interested in this concept.
The door has been designed to be FAST. To reach this goal, I have used
the assembly programming language ( again ;) ) and have rewritten most of
my personnal library's routines. I *hope* you'll appreciate the work put
in it :-)
The door is at the same time very complex. I am sorry if the installation
takes more time than usually, and I provided a standard configuration.
As the door can perform most operations present in your wildest dreams,
the config file *had* to be long too ;-) Provided is also the great util
TOOLTYPE which allows editing icons' tooltypes in your favourite text
editor.

| Infos about a new "revolutionary" QUEST door :) |
`-------------------------------------------------'
So so, here we finally go.. Why did I dare writing a text file just
for a little /X door ? ;)
- The door can perform all operations splitted in the several existing
quest doors and REALLY MORE, and is of course FULLY configurable;
- The door is INTERACTIVE. I mean, REALLY INTERACTIVE ;) It is not
just based on 1-2 string comparisons upon in-code builtin questions.
No no no, with a provided dictionnary, the door will analyse the
users' answers to YOUR defined questions and will take decisions based
on what you instructed her to do in the case.
There is NO LIMITATION :) Because YOU make the questions, YOU make
the "dictionnary", YOU define the decisions to be taken when a user
answers what you awaited. I provided a basic configuration though to
earn time and avoid problems ;)
A simple application: QUESTION: Do you have an Amiga ?
ANSWER: No
DECISION: -----> KICK <---- ;-)
The door can work on complete sentences. It's up to you to configurate
it all correctly.
eg: ANALYSE: *no*but* ... could mean he plans to buy one .. NO KICK
ANALYSE: *ye*but* ... could mean ?... KICK
Let's take a closer look at the basic features now:
- The Quest is "message based". For each important event, a message
can be sent to anyone. EALL messages are possible in several
conferences at the same time, and private messages can be sent to
anyone you wish. These will occur to advertise the arrival of a new
user, a kick, etc...
- You can decide wether people MUST or not answer to the questions
(smashing return allowed or not).
- Illimited number of questions; Possibility to have questions, comments
and/or textfiles displayed. Number of lines to answer configurable for
each question.
- In case of awaited answer received (interactivity), the door can:
* ask another question and eventually display a textfile.
* display a comment or a text file.
* kick the user and display a comment/textfile
* do... nothing ;)
- You can also have the door to prompt the message editor for the user
to write a bit about himself after havin' answered the questions.
- The door can kick previously deleted users, or just warn them that
there are few chances to see them validated again. A message can also
be sent to anyone here.
- Users with co-sysop access can also view new users' answers. Super
wildcards are also supported there.
- The door can display a textfile at the beginning and at the end of
the procedure. Yes, you can now ask to display a textfile at ANY moment
in the Quest procedure :)
- The door normally displays a little advertisement for my board and
2 others at the end. You can disable that, I like sober doors ;)
And much more..
I hope you are convinced now ;) Try it, it's really amazing to see it
working and it's worth 15 mins of installation :)
